If you want to develop your hillwalking skills to take you over steeper and more adventurous ground, this is good opportunity for you. This course is for mountain walkers who wish to take on the great challenge scrambling can offer and get into some of the less accessible places on the British mountains.

All our courses take place in the Lake District (Keswick area). The course will adapt according to the prevailing conditions to make the best of any weather.

Introduction to Scrambling – WHAT'S COVERED?

  • Clothing and equipment
  • Basic scrambling techniques and movement skills
  • Choosing a safe route and assessing risk
  • Hazard management
  • Assisting and safeguarding other party members
  • Simple ropework for scrambles in emergency situations
  • Weather forecasting
  • Planning a mountain day

Specialist equipment such as group shelter and large first aid kit wil be supplied by your guide. Please download Kit List for the required personal equipment.

We will be out on the hill all day in the quite technical terrain (Grade 1-2 Scrambling), so a good level of fitness is required.. If you would like any advice as to how fit you need to be please get in contact for some advice.

This course is run on a maximum ratio of 1 guide to every 6 clients.
